A 3-hour hike up the hill behind Kaprun Residence leads you to Pinzgauer Hütte. The food is excellent and your hosts Christian and Lisa take great care of you. To top it off, horses tend to graze right behind the cabin.

Especially on a hot day, the Sigmund Thun gorge is a wonderful excursion. Just around the corner, it is located on the road to the Kitzstein Horn. You may want to take swim-clothes and jump into the reservoir at the top of the gorge (only at the swimming spots!)

Heading up to the Europe's largest waterfalls with the train from Fürth to Krimml. Weekend tickets at €19 for 3 travelers are a much better choice than weekday tix at€10.40/person.
